Public art can include any temporary or permanent physical (e.g. sculptures, murals, architectural work, landscaping, etc.) or experiential (e.g. performances, festivals, multi-sensory etc.) installations that have been purposefully located in a publicly accessible or visible location for the enrichment, enjoyment, and connection of the Shawnee community and its citizens and visitors alike. Shawnee's public art should strive to enhance the sense of pride in our community and may celebrate, recognize, or honor important milestones and partnerships in the city’s past and present, or provide a source of dreaming for the City’s future possibilities. The installation or event may be funded with public and/or private sources.
